Mountains of Bulgaria

Nikolay Yotov is a licenced Bulgarian mountain guide, following in the footsteps (literally) of his father and grandfather. He is currently developing a Webpage of his own, but on this page, you'll find a few 'tasters'. Certainly, I had never realised how scenic Bulgaria was.

New Years Day, 1999The mountains rise to 2000 or 3000m, pretty impressive.  If you take a look at any World Atlas you can see how varied the  country is - mountains, lakes and wild forests; many natural forms - like this mushroom; ancient historic places; ethnographic villages, etc.Strange formations

Nikolay leads small groups of people to unusual places.  In his own words "Usually my customers are bored of everyday city life,  so we visit unspoilt, quiet natural places; we walk on uncrowded paths; we sleep in tourist huts, shelters or camps; we eat what we bring with us, or what we buy from the locals (they offer the famous Bulgarian yogurt and other ecological meals).
When I conduct my trips I take into account the interests of the customers - what kind of places they would like to visit and what their physical abilities are. I also think that  the enjoyment of a journey is not only a result of the money spent on it, and especially  here in Bulgaria, it costs less!."

My original intention, when developing this site, was to present my own work. Although I don't wish to promote particular tour operators, I admire individuals such as Nikolay and am pleased to promote his work. Vihren
